'Pumpkin-Headed Turkey Claus' Is The Most Ludicrous Holiday Character Ever

Meet Pumpkin-Headed Turkey Claus, the disturbing new holiday hero that perfectly sums up advertisers' propensity to deck the halls before people have picked out their Halloween costumes.

According to the character's maker, the online daily deal site Retail Me Not, Pumpkin-Headed Turkey Claus sprung from the very spot where a "migrating turkey dropped a single feather into Santa's north pole pumpkin patch."

And he's here to help consumers celebrate OctoNovemCember, an appropriate name for the months that make up the pre-pre-Christmas holiday Smörgåsbord.

Holiday ads are infiltrating advertising earlier and earlier every year. It's a phenomenon known as the "Christmas creep."

Target raised eyebrows when it started airing its Christmas ads, created by 72andSunny, as early as October 11. Toys "R" Us held out until October 27 to air its commercials, made by Chicago-based Escape Pod.

If groomed properly, the odd-looking hybrid — the Turducken of brand mascots, if you will — could be the voice of this advertising movement.

He even has a modest Twitter following.

Although the concept might be better than the execution. Only time will tell. Good thing there are still almost two months to Christmas.
